Where there is rain, there is relief! From this heat! There’s a thunderstorm going on right now and I gotta say, it is LOUD! I mean, the whole sky lights up from the lightning and the thunder startled me and I was wearing headphones, so that sucker is LOUD! I learned a trick somewhere if you count the seconds after you see lightning, divide the number by 5 and that is approx. how many miles away you are from the storm. Well, there wasn’t even a second, everything was almost simultaneous so that just means its hella close!
For a city of walkers, this totally sucks. You see so many people who are caught off guard (I guess it’s not safe to assume that since the weather was 90 degrees and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky that there wouldn’t be a thunderstorm today) and have to huddle under a store awning or wait at the base of a subway stop. I wasn’t kidding when I said I have used my umbrella the same amount if not more in the summer than I did in the winter!
I think I got this whole thing down now – It’s unbearably hot, then it gets super humid, then it’s less hot, but even more humid, and then it downpours and then just becomes mildly hot and not so humid and then it gets unbearably hot again. It’s a vicious cycle here in the big apple I tell ya!
